Do you have days when the courageous mom lion, who you typically are, wants to hibernate in the den…for DAYS? I experience those days, and quite frankly, more than I like to admit. However, it is funny to me that the thing we need to learn is what we need to teach. So, in doing a little soul searching, I have found that courageous obedience to God is sometimes quite hard. When faith overcomes fear, bold confidence empowers us to fulfill God’s calling. Today, I am praying for some bold faith. I don’t want to live in the shadows anymore, or should I say the den? I want to pursue all God has for me.
It can get a little dicey when we talk about fear because it encompasses such a broad spectrum of feelings. We would like God to remove our fears so we can easily obey, but He desires that we trust Him enough to step out in the midst of our fears. It is in the act of faith that courage becomes a reality, and the Lord’s grace rushes in to supply divine power.
Nehemiah was an exiled Jew in the Persian Empire, and was a man who demonstrated great courage in his obedience to God. The Bible says in Nehemiah 1:11, “Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.”
Moms -may your prayer mirror Nehemiah’s today, “Jesus, I am a worried Mom who prays you grant me favor and courage as I trudge through another day trying to be the best mother I can be.” I hope this simple and true prayer lifts your spirit, dear one, and you roar out of your den today!
